Working together
What Working Together Involves
- We begin with your story—your health history, experiences, challenges, and goals. Together, we'll explore treatment options and develop a personalized plan that fits your life.
- When you choose an ongoing membership, you're choosing to partner with me on your journey toward better health. We'll work together over time, learning what works for you, navigating challenges, and adjusting your care as your needs and circumstances change. I'll bring my medical expertise, guidance, and support, while you bring something equally important—your experiences, goals, and understanding of your own life. Together, we'll find a sustainable path forward that works for you.
How this fits with your existing care
My focus is Obesity Medicine and metabolic health. I consider your other medical conditions and coordinate with your primary care clinician and specialists when needed.
You should continue general primary care and specialist treatment outside the scope of this practice. I welcome patients who already work with a therapist or psychiatrist and consider that care when discussing their metabolic treatment.
What to know before booking
Care is available in North Carolina, California, Florida and Maine. Physician services are direct pay, with insurance options for covered testing, prescriptions and potentially eligible out-of-network visits.
SustainMD provides a broader medical assessment rather than a medication-only service. Booking does not guarantee a particular prescription, result or treatment timeline.
Acute or emergency concerns require the appropriate local service. Concerns about an eating disorder may also require dedicated assessment and specialist support alongside, or before, weight management care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know why I am gaining weight?
No. Your assessment explores the medical history and other factors relevant to your concerns. You do not need to identify the cause yourself.
Can I seek care after several unsuccessful attempts?
Yes. Previous treatment and what happened afterward are useful parts of your history. We can review your response, barriers and current needs.
Can I continue seeing my therapist or psychiatrist?
Yes. Your existing care remains important. I support your metabolic health while coordinating with other treating clinicians where appropriate.
Is this a medication-only service?
No. Medication may be part of a personalized plan, but SustainMD does not offer a separate prescription-only or GLP-1 track.
Do I have to decide about membership before the consultation?
No. You can complete the consultation and discuss whether ongoing membership fits your needs afterward.
Can I receive care outside the four listed states?
This service is available only in North Carolina, California, Florida and Maine. Contact the practice if you have questions about your location before booking.
What if I need acute care?
Contact an appropriate acute-care provider. For an emergency, seek immediate emergency help. Do not wait for a discovery call or a scheduled SustainMD visit.
How to decide on the next step
If you would like a comprehensive assessment, explore the initial consultation. If you still have questions about the practice, a discovery call gives you a way to discuss them before deciding.
You can also review pricing and payment options and where care is available.
